Completing my meditation this morning, I reached for this beautiful tarot deck which has become my favourite set in the last few years. I had placed the cards on my shrine throughout the meditation, and as ever, I had held you, dear reader and those of you who practice Satsang with me through my sacred work in my practice with a heart to wholeness and awakening to the highest truth for all. We are sharing three cards for the general reader today and a fourth card and some deeper reflection for those of you who have been so kind as to take out full subscriptions. Regardless of that, each of you who read or practice with me is held in the same heartful regard.
The Question
This feels like a time of great disruption - Show us the light to be found within these moments.
As regular readers will know, tarot, for this being, is a beautiful way to look into our more profound intuition through its symbolism. Let's turn to the cards.
The Cards
Mind
The world we create is sadly mostly made from mind. Mind is a wonderful tool if used well from our wholeness, but when made the 'master or mistress.' Look around you right now at the human world. Look at the mind image in the card in the photo. Without the illumination of the true heart, it will loop and loop all of its old stuff repeatedly. It will divide and divide and always look for a way to project its ideas of what it thinks is 'right' into the world. It will create hell by trying to form a tribe, a 'we' and us and them. It will believe in its hell as a heaven on earth, all the while burning its own life and yours to ashes, convinced it has to win, that there is a war that can be won and a golden future based on an imagined golden past awaits.
Compromise
This is what we do when faced with what the mind throws at us through its formation into ego and action and the systems they create to have purchase and win their war. We weigh up the pros and cons, try to legislate this way and that, and meet mind with mind, which only creates more mind. We try to create impartiality, and still, look around - we are dying. There is no meaningful life being lived, no art that is not turned to commerce, no love that is being made. Compromise is death, but so is the war that the dualistic mind will try to fight back with. The new moon is a great time to step out of the war, meditate, weigh these things in the heart, and let your soul show you what a real step might be.
Breakthrough
The new moon is a great symbol of that self-reflexivity which is implicit in the human makeup. I say implicit, but we are hardly trained or schooled in accessing or using it. But you, dear reader, would not be here if this were not in you. You'd be over grinding on some political blog or some pseudo-spiritual 'avoid reality' site - both of which would be trying to grift you into buying their 'merch' one way or the other. We need a breakthrough, and the breakthrough lies in you, in the realisation of your true self. This is not something that your mind can know, being a creation of form, but your life, your being, knows. The breakthrough is to move beyond mind and compromise into the true knowledge of self - and to allow that truth to become action in this world. The composite energy of even a small number of people stepping into life in this way is not something the mind can see. It will see to pull things its way, which is always the old way. It will seek another dualistic change as fast as it can. It cannot see the one world that is immanent in this very moment. The New Earth*, as it is called in the Bible. Me, I just call it The What Is, or The Open Space. If one is still caught in fighting over the names of things in the old way, then the mind is the boss - again. I'm put in mind of a beautiful quote from Chuang Tzu.
‘Don't listen with your ears, listen with your mind.
No, don't listen with your mind, but listen with your spirit.
Listening stops with the ears, the mind stops with recognition,
but spirit is empty and waits on all things.’
